Meet Judy Ramsey

Judy Liu Ramsey is an ordained animal chaplain with over 40 years of experience in counseling, teaching, and mentorship, and holds an M.A. from the University of Michigan. She brings her experience as a social work counselor, her deep listening as a craniosacral therapist, and her dedication as an interspecies counselor to her teaching and services.

Judy has been a professional animal communicator and communication instructor for nearly 20 years. Having trained with Penelope Smith, Judy teaches four levels of animal communication, including interspecies counseling. Through training with Teresa Wagner, she is also able to offer grief support and hospice communication. In addition, Judy is a shamanic instructor approved by Sandra Ingerman to teach her courses, and listed with Sandra Ingerman’s shamanicteachers.com. Judy’s shamanic practice was developed through mentoring with Sandra Ingerman, Carla Meeske, Kate Durda and Stephanie Tighe, and Renee Baribeau, as well as through instruction from Tom Cowan, Alberto Villoldo, Connie Eiland and others.

Judy was ordained as an animal chaplain through the Compassion Consortium in 2023. She follows the code of ethics of animal communicators, as established by Penelope Smith, and of shamanic practitioners, as established by the Society for Shamanic Practice, as well as of her own chaplaincy practice.

The animals she has lived with have been her best teachers. Her approach to instruction is to allow the animals to teach their people. She supports people to become still and open to receive what the animals have to offer. Her mission is to help the species live in peace with each other, to understand each other’s needs, and to be connected to a harmonious life together that will help each one thrive.

Judy’s shamanic practice is a way of life for her. She is deeply connected to her compassionate helping spirits and to the nature spirits of the Earth. Offering shamanic healing to both animals and to people, Judy also has been trained by Betsy Bergstrom to provide compassionate depossession and to do curse unraveling. She teaches both basic and advanced shamanic practitioner courses for Sandra Ingerman, as well as her own trainings to support new practitioners and animals.

Currently, she lives on her beautiful farm in Michigan with two retired barn cats, Lester and Charlie, and her labrador retriever, Stitch, beloved trees and vines, and lots of Hidden Folk.
